Dad has metastases in one lung and liver

how fast is the decline. What can I expect in the next few months?

  • Hi Egle, I don't have any answers myself to those questions and I know the helpline won't be there til the morning. But it might be worth calling them for this info, as they may well be able to help. Having said that people do vary hugely in their mind's and body's responses to the cancer, and whatever palliative treatment is given. Are you able to contact his cancer team, as they will have the most accurate idea?

    best wishes,

    Denby

    Hi!
    my dad is in Italy.

the response from the hospital yesterday has been very laconic and superficial. We have been left alone

    i live in UK.

i have asked a friend that work in the sector to explain how the health care system works in Italy (I have been living in UK for very very long)

    we feel very alone

  • Ciao Bella! I am so sorry to hear that you feel very alone, it's understandable.(Ti sente si sola, is that right?) However at least on this forum you are no longer alone, someone will always be along usually within a few hours with some sort of answer or just to keep you company. Maybe even Macmillan will have some info about Italy, or point you to how to find it, Italian embassy in London or consulate maybe?

    More good wishes, Denby

    thank you so much.

    almost right:

    Ti senti sola !...

mi sento abbandonata più che sola

(I feel abandoned more that lonely)

    thank you for your reply

  • Nessun' problema. Sono sconsolata di sentirlo. Capische che tu lo voglia sapere i tempe di tuo padre , perche devi fare piani di viaggio

    Ti auguro il meglio

    Love this!

  • Hi Egle, so sorry your dad has this diagnosis. Of course you need expert advice about the next steps. Do phone the Macmillan help line as Denby says, I'd be surprised if they didn't have contact with similar organisations in Italy. Please let us know how things develop. We are all here for you. Sending love x
