  • Hi,
  • I am so worried. I wrote a long post explaining my symptoms but unable to post that much. I have had
  • urinary issues since June. False positive dip for infection, then 3 normal dips. Kidney function blood test all ok & ultrasound also. Uro gynacolgist said no prolapse & thought vaginal atrophy due to menopause was causing urinary issuse but now lab result shows blood in urine.
    Thanks
  • Hi . Blood in urine can be caused by a number of things but still needs to be investigated. Ultrasounds are not always ideal at picking up bladder cancer. The real test is a flexible cystoscopy (A camera in the bladder). This will show if there is anything untoward going on. You need to push to see a urologist for this, if only to rule things out. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Just to second Rily's comment. I was told by a GP that my blood in urine was vaginal atrophy, it is not unusual for female bladder cancer to be overlooked. Push to see a urologist. Good luck. x

    Hello Sunflower,

Mrs G has vagnal atrophy from the menopause and there is always invisible but detectable blood in the urine. She has a sort of pessary to help lubrication. But rily is right; a flexible cystocopy will find out if anything's going on.

    Keep in touch.

    All the best,

    gandulf.

Thank you so much  Riley. With the backlog from COVID & my GP practice not at all bothered by the discomfort I am in. ( thank goodness for the locum) I am totally worn out as up throught the night now with a feeling of a full bladder but passing a spoonful. I will search for a urologist x
