Hi,

Yesterday evening i had another bad episode with my head. Came on fairly suddenly and is like nothing of experienced prior to all of this. Oncolgy wanted someone to call and check me out. They did various tests and blood pressure was on high side, so i'll tell doctor on blood test day. I also have dizzy spells. I read about lack of magnesium during chemo can cause headaches especially with the 2 types of chemo i had. Im drinking loads and taking paracetomol to keep things at bay.

Sue.

  • Hi Sue, sorry to hear you are experiencing these awful headaches. I guess you could take magnesium tablets, or is it bananas that have lots of magnesium? Nicer to eat bananas than take pills. Hoping you have a better day today. x

  • Always check with pharmacist and your medical team before taking supplements. If you are low in magnesium you can have a bath with epsom salts [magnesium sulphate] as it is absorbed through the skin. Or you can take tablets, in which case the best sort is magnesium citrate because it is absorbed by your gut better than other varieties of magnesium.

I was getting cramp and sometimes restless legs at night. I tracked it down to imbalance with calcium caused by the calcium supplements I have to have to combat osteoporosis. I take a low dose of the Magnesium Citrate tablets [half a 100 mg tablet am and pm] which is usually enough. There is also a great product which works almost instantly giving great relief, a magnesium pump spray you just rub in. Cramp cured!

So as long as your team thinks it is ok you could try any of those.

hope you don't get any more of the bad headaches,

    Denby
