Hi Nanasue. Sorry to hear you are still in a lot of discomfort. It is recommended you contact your medical team or CNS if severe pain continues for more than 3/4 days and  if the pain is not subsiding. Always best to get these things checked out if you have any concerns. Difficult at the weekends I know. Best wishes.

Hi Nanasue I have had pains very like period pains at various times after bc treatments. I always think it is muscle pain/spasm from soreness of tubes poking up the urethra, and I swallow painkillers till it goes. Catheters in particular are often the cause. I hate them. Nonetheless like Rily says definitely get medical opinion from the urology dept asap. So glad hospitals are back in operation again, hope you get it sorted. x

Hello  Thanks for the reply, I had to go to a private hospital taken over by the NHS which was completely Covid free to have the op.  I will phone CNS on Tuesday as pains are rather persistent, never had them before.  But hay ho strange times.

Thanks for the reply, afraid I don't possess a hot water bottle, I think the last time I used one was when I lived at home with Mum and Dad some 50 odd years ago.  So I will keep taking the tablets until I can get medical advice.

I’ve still got the hot water bottles from my mum’s house, and she died nearly 40 years ago. These things don’t seem to wear out do they, although one which was actually made of rubber did perish eventually. Never use them normally but they are marvellous for pain relief. 

Wheatbags are also good. Just heat them up in the microwave.

We used to have hot water bottles, but like you say, rubber ones & they perished. I expect newer ones are made of a different material.

How're you doing today?  You could always ring 111 if still in pain.  

H, as a child I used to love to sniff (sounds peculiar) inside the hot water bottle. Although I'd be too scared to use one these days in case it scalded my legs. 

T, I tried the wheatbags too, but found after a while they began to smell quite unpleasant.

What I use now is a gel bottle that you put in the microwave, but they can burst too if you keep them in too long.  Lidl have them in every so often, they cost about £3.99.
