Hi,Mum is not eligible for any more funding so she is coming home next week.A different social worker phoned yesterday and is going to get funding so I can have the sitting service at least twice a week.It will be nice to have mum’s company but I do feel apprehensive.Mum is lovely but she is not the easiest at times as she is so stubborn.I think she will miss the care home staff. It was suggested that mum could go there for day care and I thought that was a good idea but mum wasn’t keen.I’m busy trying to organise the house ready for her return. This has meant a great deal of furniture shifting. The weather is glorious today.I need to mow but it might be too hot.The poppies are lovely.Love to you all.Jane xx
Hi your poppies are looking beautiful it is lovely weather today very hot . I am pleased your mum is coming home I do hope you don’t find it too hard though it will be lovely for you to have her company don’t go overdoing things getting ready for her take care
love Liz x
Thanks Liz,I don’t know why the photo is not in focus again,it is annoying as it is sharp on my phone.I wanted to move a large bookcase upstairs but had forgotten about the stair lift.I could have moved it out of the kitchen doors,up the steep steps at the side of the house and in through the front door.I decided that would be too tricky on my own so I have left it outside the kitchen and put the books back.I have to order a new mattress for mum,she sleeps on a day bed in our living room.It will be tiring but we will just have to see how we get on.I hope you can enjoy the nice weather.Love Jane xx
WOW what a picture Winkers! I love poppies & was admiring some this morning whilst on the way to the shops. I've got some wild flowers growing, well I'm waiting for them to grow. I love a sunflower too, it sort of fills me with elation.
I thought for one moment you were going to say that you were waiting for your mom to get home before you lifted the bookcase so she could help
It'll be lovely to be able to see your mom again, hope it works out for you both.

Hey Jane take care with the furniture shifting you hear? Look after yourself too. xx My daughter who is currently staying with me thinks I am stubborn and also not the easiest! Truth be told I can understand this is probably right. It feels really tough to hand over control of things to the younger and fitter. I feel myself becoming increasingly fixed in my ways like it's something to hold on to amidst what feels like the younger generation's turmoil. I think But we love each other as I know is true for you. Your mum will be so pleased to be back at home, so don't stress making too much effort. It'll be setting eyes on your sweet face and the first cup of tea back home that is important. Definitely accept all the help you are offered. Maybe once she is home safe your mum will be more open to a day trip once a week for lunch at the Home. I had some weekends respite with my dad (he wasn't keen either ) and it made a huge difference to get an odd chunk of time off. Marvellous poppies! x
Thanks Blanket,The poppies are on the first seated terrace, there are still a few more left to bloom.I wish mum could help with moving things but sadly those days are long gone.Pre lockdown my sister would have helped,we always joke that we should have worked for a furniture removal firm.We make a good team at moving things and self assembly furniture.I made up a garden bench last week and it’s fiddlier on your own.Once I sent Sarah out to buy a pint of milk and she came back with 2 large comfy chairs & no milk. She is a great sister though so I can easily forgive her the scatty moments.Love Jane xxx
Thanks Teasswill,I’m about to have a late lunchbreak now.I’m trying not to overdo it.I think I learnt my lesson early on post cystectomy.I’m glad you like the poppies. There are so many shrubs in the garden and not so much colour though the roses look good this year.Love Jane xx
Thanks Herothedog,I spoke to mum earlier, she was in a right old state but I managed to calm her down. She is looking forward to coming home.I’m overwhelmed by the choice of mattresses available on line.I cannot decide what would be best for mum.She needs something comfy for her severe arthritis but it has to provide some support.Love Jane xx
Hi Jane, John Lewis advised me not to buy the firm mattress which I thought I wanted, they said older folk need a softer one for aging bones. They had me lying on one in the shop for half an hour before letting me buy it. I bought medium . I was a bit shocked by today’s prices, I’d had my last one for 20 years Good luck.x
Thanks H,That’s helpful,I have been looking at medium mattresses tonight.Love Jane xx
