I'm new to all of this, just diagnosed the week of lock down so treatment has been all over the place. I've had scans and TURBT last week but have not seen the team since diagnosis so not sure of what type of cancer I have or how big. Surgery was very last minute at private hospital as NHS closed to treatment by me. I am very grateful that I have had this done but now very confused about what normally happens and what happens next. Any advice??
Hi and welcome to the group at these strangest of times. Good to know you have had a TURBT done. This will put things on hold for you for a while. Normally what happens is that you get a follow up consultation at about the 3 week mark. You would then be given a stage and grading of your cancer. That is if it is confirmed as cancer. These results then determine the next step. Things are on a bit of a delay at the moment. It may be an idea to give your consultant's secretary to find out what is happening. Once you get your results and a treatment plan, we would then be able to guide and support you through this. Any questions you have, please ask. There are many of us here with lots of varying experiences. Best wishes.
Hello Ginanbareit,
Great response from Community champion as usual. As a result of the Governments announcement yesterday regarding the reopening of Cancer and Coronary departments when applicable you may get the results of your biopsy sooner rather than later leading to consultations and treatment options.
We have all been in your position waiting for biopsy results and then treatment regimes. There are myriad fellow BC people on this site who will give you advice and reassurance from their own experiences. This Macmillan blog has been a godsend for me. Good luck stay well

Hi Ginanbareit, just to add as Rily says it’s usually at least 3 weeks waiting for the results from the TURBT, been as you can’t at the moment go into see the urologist for the results you may get them from a phone call. Hope you get good news when you do get them X
