Just got a letter from my Doctors stating that they were instructed by Government and NHS after more recent data on Covid 19 to check over patients who had been sent original shielding letter, and on reviewing of my medical records and taking into account the latest advice I am no longer in the highest risk group!!!!!

I am still classed as in the 'At risk' category

Basically I can now go out for a walk!!!   Oh happy days!Grinning  !!!

Just wondered if any one else had been re evaluated?

Ironically weather is dull and drizzly today, but never mind, sun will be out for all of us again soon.

Take care and keep safe x

That’s great, wonder why they took you off? I had 1st 6 of BCG at the start of the year and was surprised I got put on the shield list. Would love to go out too! Take care x

  • Hi thanks for reply, I had my last batch of three 7/8 & 9 ending March 2nd, Hopefully your letter is in the post Pray

Obviously they are now having time to check over  all the recipients of those letters. Maybe my post if a bit quicker than yours !!

    Take care x

  • The sending out of these letters does seem a bit random. My 96 year old mother hasn't had one, although admittedly apart from her age she has nothing significant wrong other than severe arthritis & on medication for high blood pressure & low thyroid.

A friend of ours is very bemused at receiving a letter saying he mustn't even go out i the garden!

My brother had one sent out in the initial batch 3 weeks ago which said the same ‘ sit near an open window to get some fresh air’ !. I think this has been amended now as the one my husband received on Monday via the GP surgery did  say you can go in the garden as well.

His letter was sent out in error too as he finished his cancer treatment 18months ago. Our GP said that to meet the cancer criteria you had to be in the middle of treatment or just finished.

As neither of us fall into this category we can go out although we are avoiding this as much as possible.

    Stay safe everyone

  • Apart from supermarket (if allowed) & suitably distanced walking, there's nowhere to go anyway!

Wistfully wondering if in the Summer we could have our best friends round to socially distance in the garden. They could bring their own drink & glasses...  I've seen people sitting in chairs in their front gardens chatting across the boundary.
