To all who are struggling with bladder cancer. My husband and I have been through the mill, but it is important to have hope.
My husband had R/C 1 yr ago. He had already had prostate cancer- but after 5 years it had jumped. He is 80 in August, so I was very worried as to how it would affect him- and me. He could not have chemo as he had already been treated with radiotherapy. He was 5 dys in ICU and another 10dys on a ward. It is a huge op and on top of that he had to learn to cope with a stoma. Recovery period is at least 3mnths. He was doing extremely well when he was hit by problems and recurrent UTIs. After being hospitalised 4/5 times, they found he had 3 strictures In his illeat conduite. Now he has 2 stents which need changing every 3 mnths. At his age another major reconstruction would be too much.
HOWEVER- we manage! He is well. We live as normal a life as possible, travelling to France and Italy (where we have family) regularly!
Now we have Corona virus andthat is a big worry. He has low immune system so we will have to lie low and hope for the best!
I would like to say to all those going through something similar - it can be done! I am not a strong person and had never been in a hospital before (apart from having children). Strength comes when u love that person. Have faith- in anything. You will come through. Take it ONE DAY AT A TIME. You will come out the other side.
I realise I am v lucky. For the moment my husband is cancer free and not everyone has the same outcome. Stay with it and good luck!
Hi Canevara44. Thanks for the input. Very reassuring for others. Keep your heads down till all this passes. Best wishes.
Brilliant post to read so happy for you and your husband
Mr W and me in a similar situation altho he didn't have RC Twenty four bcg treatments over almost 4 years he is cancer.free and treatment finished Now on.6 monthly checks
Currently enjoying the sunshine in.Lanzarote.and he is looking forward to getting out on his bike when the UK weather improves His all clear after 21 treatments we decided needed a marking so we bought him an electric bike It actually cost more than my car which I remind him of whenever it suits

Hey Wilbert, rotten that your holiday is being affected by this bloomin' virus, though as you say life is better in sunshine on a balcony lounger than paddling through mud and driving rain which is my daily outing! Enjoy the premium brands x
