Great news Blanket.  Hope you are much happier with your new hospital ....will that also mean a new CNS (rather than nasty nurse)?

It is a relief not to have to go to that hospital Jane, but also a relief to know that I don't have to wait too long.  I do feel very lucky, especially at a time when many people may get cancellations for whatever reasons.  Plus I only asked for a referral over a week ago with the Dr, & the plan was at the time that I would still go to the other hospital again.  But I decided that I just couldn't do it.   We have a wonderful receptionist at my surgery who I rang on Friday (before I cancelled my appointment) & she said that she'd sort it out, she did so good that I got a letter in the post by Saturday!

It is indeed H, I'm almost looking forward to it . Oh yes I could not live with her for the rest of my life!  I complained, but nothing much was done really apart from her denying it, which is why I never bothered in the first place.  They also said that I could have talks with everyone.  I'm quite vocal & have always told them what the problems were & nothing's ever been done, so I thought the best thing for me is to just walk away now as I ain't keeping them in a job.  Their loss not mine, mind you they may be glad to see the back of me

Hi Blanket,How fantastic to have such a wonderful receptionist.We are badly in need of someone like that at our health centre.I’m very pleased that things are moving forward for you at last.I’m patchy,I go from languishing on the sofa like a sickly character from a Victorian novel or being relatively productive.I was outside earlier cutting up overgrown foliage ready for the garden bin but now it’s raining so I’m back indoors.There is panic buying in our part of Somerset,not a loo roll in sight apparently.Take care,love Jane

WOW, that can't be bad gardening!  I'd probably still be Vicky.  Hope the weather picks up soon so you can go out again.  It's lovely here at the moment, but a bit blowy.

I though that the bog roll was bought to use instead of face masks as it worked out cheaper.  But I wondered if people thought to begin with that Corona caused raging diarrhoea too.   However, I read an article today & according to Psychologists they say that during a pandemic people have to do something & in this case they choose to panic buy bog rolls as they're big & because of this we think they're more important, plus they have a long shelf life.

It certainly helps that you have a good contact at your GP surgery. Our surgery is great too, one doctor practice but can always get an appointment within 24 hours and all the staff are lovely.

It really helps when you can ring and put a face to who you are speaking to rather than a different person every time as happens in some of the large surgeries. That’s of course if you can actually get through!

Ours is a Health Centre Luce, & has recently joined forced with another, so we seem to have difficulty getting an appointment in under 3 weeks.  I'm not always able to get through when I call either, but sometimes you get lucky.  There's always the online booking or emailing, but they no longer return my emails so that's the end of my quick route.  I know if you need to be seen urgently they'll get you in within 24 hours.  Although I don't suppose it can be an easy job.

Hi Blanket. Similar in our area. 5 GP surgeries have joined together as one practice with one phone number. Trying to get an appointment is almost impossible. Things have really changed since I was first diagnosed 7 years ago. Best wishes.

Our GPs' surgery (also a merger of two practices)  do on-line booking which always means waiting at least a couple of weeks, if not longer. For some things I think this is not a problem. But they also have a Same-Day Team (senior nurses/paramedics who are qualified to prescribe) who the receptionists can book you in with immediately. Obviously in that situation you have to fit in with the time-slots they have available. I've been to that team once for an ear infection. I had to go in straight after I called the surgery and  the prescribing nurse sorted it out very efficiently. I guess if the Same-Day Team thought a doctor's opinion was required they could then get you a quicker appointment. There is no doubt the NHS is under strain.
