I've got my referral to another hospital, although the Dr said that it could be months before I'm contacted.  So now my dilemma is should I go ahead with my op at the original hospital or wait.  I also had a letter saying they've dealt with my complaint, I'm not at all happy with it.  Unpleasant nurse denied saying anything to me, & they made her out to be wonderful ....   So I've complained again, although it does make me wonder why I bothered if they do nothing.  They've invited me to hospital to discuss other problems but I can't really see that anything will change, plus I do not want to go to have to listen to that nurse lying to my face.  I think I'd really lose my temper if that was the case, which of course wouldn't be a good look.   I've told them the problems I've had before, but they just look at you, smile, nod & off they go, no interest whatsoever. I was beginning to wonder if it was just me, but I never used to feel this much pain apart from the first time.

  • Oh Blanket,What a dilemma, weighing up whether to be seen sooner and may be risk bad treatment again or have a lengthy wait.I suppose you must choose what will cause you the least amount of stress.Sending you a virtual hug,I’m sure someone here will have some ideas.Love Jane xx

  • Blanket what a predicament

Weigh up the pros and cons, if you are happy to wait, well happy is probably not the right word and there is no danger in having to wait, I would choose the new hospital. However if there is any risk to you in waiting then it must be your current hospital.  I hope that whichever choice you make you will be treated well.

    I know that I don't know
  • I'm inclined to support the change of hospital decision. You have been really unhappy with your treatment at the current location, and they dont seem to be responding helpfully to your complaints. I don't see any reason why it should be months before you get seen at the new hospital. Can you contact the new hospital Urology department yourself directly and ask when they will fit you in for the next due cystoscopy?  You are enroute in a programme of treatment which they should be able to pick up seamlessly. Surely they don't intend to start from scratch like a new referral? These hospitals are all part of the NHS, with same guidelines even if they are different Health authorities. My hospital fills up the cystoscopy appointments from 4 weeks ahead. Once your name is on that list why would there be a need for delay? I don't get it. Maybe you could contact PALS at the new hospital and ask them to help? Hope you can get it sorted out.  xxx

Hi Blanket, you have a difficult decision to make. Do you go for the devil you know or chance the new hospital?
I think you will have to go with your gut feeling on this. If you choose the new hospital definitely contact them if you not heard anything in a couple of weeks and see if things can be moved forward.

Although every hospital has the same guidelines I think we know from other posts that things are done very differently across the country so be prepared for this if you do decide to move.

Good luck and keep us posted.

  • Aaaaaw thanks so much to you all, I don't know what I'd do without my lovely Macmillan family :''-)

I've not been able to make a decision since meno in 2009 Blush. So anything could happen with me.

I shall call the Dr & say that I won't go for the op, I'd said that I would so he may not have put me down as urgent-ish, then I'll call the hospital & cancel so some other poor soul can take my place, then the other hospitals.  Thanks for the suggestions as I would never have thought of calling the hospitals myself, although I'm sure I did it once before & they said that I needed a referral.  Perhaps that due to me already being in the system I'll be able to do this.  I always imagined that the other hospitals were much further away but they're not, they're just unfamiliar territory in the opposite direction to where I would normally go.  It will be quite an adventure.

Thanks again to you all, hope everyone is as well as can her expected xxx
