been left high and dry. told if you are in pain go to A/E.  two years ago one consultant said I was in remission just to get me out of the surgery.  don't know who to check if my cancer spread to anywhere else. I have to stay lucky.

  • Maybe have a word with the Macmillan nurses on the helpline? Thinking of you feeling kicked around like this, sadly as you are not the only one kicked around whether with bladder cancer or other problems, there are lots of us out here who empathise with how this feels.

  • What were the bladder and lymph node pathology results of your cystectomy? Did the results indicate the cancer had spread elsewhere? It's normal to have checks for just 5 years then be signed off. How do you feel?

I had my bladder out in early 2017 and the path results confirmed it had not spread elsewhere. This was followed by six monthly CT scans, bloods and checks for two years. In year 3 I had one CT scan and bloods.

The further we get from surgery the lower the chance is of anything sinister elsewhere. I'll be having just ultrasound and bloods in years 4 and 5 then signed off as not having cancer.

I may appear to be listening but in my head I'm all at sea.
