Met everyone involved with me today, fantastic people. I feel so much better because of it. When the Anaesthetist asked how I felt about the anaesthetic I said great, being it on. I was high as a kite so I'll have some more thank you, he chuckled away. I feel very reassured which is great. I am glad I get 14 days in hospital which will boost my confidence. Well on Monday Basil and I will get to know each other.
Hi Jane
So glad I am not having robotic surgery just for the reason that I can stay for 14 days. They were so reassuring that I would not be let go until they are 100% sure I was OK
Got the drinks chilling in the fridge, got the anti-MRSA washing liquid. I just feel so much better today.

Glad you feel confident with your team. Hope you can treat yourself to some fun this week, I notice you have become a right old whirlwind with the domestic chores How's the new recliner? Are you lining up the reading material and box sets? When I visited my grand daughter I watched a couple of episodes the latest series of Dr Who (Jodie Whittaker) and I thought it was brilliant. Sending love H x
Thank you Luce

Hi H
Not sure about being a whirlwind but cleaning is therapeutic
I am taking my tablet to hospital and have Virgin Go, a good book and Spotify, bliss. There is a TV on the ward but at least with Virgin Go I can pick what I want
Lunching with a friend on Friday and Saturday out with my Sis and Nephew for lunch, Nephew's treat.
No recliner as yet

Hi so pleased you had a good day meeting the team I found the morphine was brilliant .You have 14 days in hospital they threw me out after 6 days but really they shouldn’t have as I was back in after 4 days with infection for five more days so you are best to stay for 14 days good luck x
It seems there is almost a competition to get us out of hospital asap after surgery. The simple truth is that post op infections and complications are normal, to be expected but the surgeons won't tell you that. It's not my intention to frighten anyone but you ought to be aware of the potential health risks.
I spent 5 weeks in hospital with 3 return visits after so called discharge. During that period I witnessed patients being sent home after an average 12 days even with robotic surgery. Having spoken to many cystectomy patients, most of those who leave after 5 or 6 days invariably end up being re-admitted due to infection.
I recommend that you buy a blood pressure meter for about £20 from Amazon or Argos plus a thermometer and check your vitals at least three times a day for a week after you've been sent home. If your temperature goes up, blood pressure drops and you feel unwell, it's time to go to A&E. Don't be embarrassed or think you're being a nuisance, it might be sepsis which is very serious, often fatal. I know, I've had it.
