Hi, I’ve just joined this group. My 80 year old mum has been having angina and had a stent placed due to blocked artery. She has been put on blood thinners and aspirin for a year. A few weeks ago she started having blood in her urine. An ultrasound and ct scan was done and she has a bladder tumour about 3cm. The problem is cardiologist says they can’t operate on her for 6 month because of the stent, and urologist says that is too late. So either her heart is in danger or the cancer stays in longer. It’s very stressful for us to know she has cancer but we can’t have surgery. Is there anyone out there who has had similar situation?
thank you all
Hi and welcome to the community, although sorry to hear about your mum. It sounds like mum is in a difficult catch 22 situation. Generally bladder cancer can be treated successfully and the earlier it is dealt with, the better. I hope the medics can come up with some sort of compromise. Best wishes.
Is it the a aesthetic that is the problem ? Maybe they can use an epidural, I think I’ve heard of others having Turbts with epidural for similar reasons as your mum.
Not my nor husband's issue but I suspect it may well be the blood thinners that are an issue. The TURBT could cause a damaging level of bleeding and they wouldn't want to give her make-it-clot-to heal-meds because of her heart.
Very best wishes anyway,
Denby
