Hi,I know I have bleated on about how slow the recovery is post cystectomy so I'm pleased to report that things are much better.I managed to clear out the shed at the weekend and have been spending longer amounts of time gardening.I am still not back to full strength but getting there.A letter from my urologist says I am above trajectory for recovery and its less than 4 months since the surgery. He said that if the tumour had been left much longer it would have been inoperable and my chances slim.I hope this gives some encouragement to those of you facing this major surgery.Love Jane XX
Hi Jane. Good to know your recovery is going well and you are gradually getting your fitness back. This gives encouragement to others. Best wishes.
Hi Jane
Like you, I was frustrated by my slow recovery rate. Teaswill may have mentioned that as a rule of thumb, recovery takes a month for each hour of surgery you endured.
As for that light, after I'd recovered from sepsis, I came to the conclusion that I was the only one who was going to trudge down that gloomy tunnel and switch the wretched thing back on, so I did.
We don't notice the incremental improvements day-to-day but week to week they are significant and if you monitor and record what you can do, you'll soon see how much you have recovered.
KBO, I think you're getting there.

I may appear to be listening but in my head I'm all at sea.
Great news Jane, and good to have this affirmation from your Urologist. I can't believe you are out gardening in this weather!! Well done for being brave. It's so frozen here I'd have to be working with a pick axe. xx
Hi CB,I'm very determined so perhaps that has helped with the recovery. You had so many complications I got off lightly just having the Paralytic Ileus and you know how unpleasant that is.I've got much better at realising my limitations and want to get on but have to go at the pace the body dictates.Love Jane XX
Hi Herothedog,I'm in now and thawing out with tea and cake as the temperature has dropped too much to be comfortable outside.I'm not up to digging yet but I would have needed a pick axe here too, been frosty all day.I've been untangling a honeysuckle and a jasmine that had got entwined with my neighbours brambles and shrubs and grappling with a pyracantha. The health centre rung and I have to go in on Monday for another blood test.Love Jane XX
Nice to see some more positive news Jane, so pleased for you and rollin spring in the garden.
John
