Hi,I saw my urologist for the first time in a few years as I usually see his colleague. He is such a nice man,we have always got on and he has known me for over 20 years. He has booked in a scan and will see me in about 4 months.I have to have blood tests but will get these done at the health centre as the department had shut for the day.I have met a lovely Macmillan agent through mum's social care worker and she is coming back to help me sort out my finances. We were meant to do that on her last visit but ended up talking so much she ran out of time.Love to you all.Jane XX

  • Hi Jane. Looks like you are getting well looked after. Hope all the scans and tests go well. Sending love to your mum. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Thanks rily,I am hopeful that progress is being made at last. The urologist said there will still be low days but he thinks I am doing well.On the way home I bought some paint as I plan to do up a tiny bathroom soon.Love Jane XX

  • Hi Jane. Don't mention paint to me. My wife keeps getting me to do decorating jobs for her friends. I end up doing £500 jobs for a few cans of beer. Still, it keeps me active. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • I've found that keeping busy and having a project or two on the go helps with recovery especially the mental welfare aspect. Occupation of some sort is key.

Anything that gives you a sense of achievement be that walking an extra 5 minutes each day, fending off grandchildren, finishing a book you started ages ago or oiling 10 new internal oak doors like I am right now (started 2 years ago, not a rush job!)

I may appear to be listening but in my head I'm all at sea.

  • Sounds like good news Jane, and so glad you are getting support from the Macmillan agent. Having someone in the system to listen and advise makes a huge difference. It's certainly better to be tackling indoor projects given the absolutely ghastly weather we're having. Apart from the daily trot with my dogs I find myself forced to sit in front of a log fire flicking through a few plant catalogues. It's a tough life but someone has to do it Slight smile xxx

Hi so pleased to read this that you are doing well and it does seem the key to it all seems to be to try and keep yourself busy . I have my pre op appointment tomorrow not Sure really what to expect

  • All sounding positive Jane, progress bit by bit I think is the way. Keeping busy does help too, I started learning to make silver jewellery  and learning to play guitar at 75. Going to be a OAP Rock God. LOL

    Best wishes

  • Onward & upward. Keep snacking for some time yet, to sustain energy levels & pace yourself - do a bit & then have a rest. Or just one (relatively) major task per day. Shame the weather's so horrid as it does make a difference to see some sun & get outside for a bit.

  • So good that everything is going so well Jane xx

    I know that I don't know
  • Thank you all.I know there will good days and bad but I feel happier now that I am getting some help from the Macmillan agent. It's interesting to learn what you all do to keep busy.I have made a start on the bathroom painting, think if I just do a small amount at a time it won't take too long.Love Jane XX
