Hi and firstly let me welcome you to the group. Many of us here know how you must be feeling at the moment, but be aware bladder cancer can be treaded successfully and many of us are still here to tell the tale. I assume you have had a cystoscopy to identify your tumours. The operation to remove them is called a TURBT (trans urethral resection of bladder tumour). It sounds a lot worse than it is. It is a fairly standard procedure. Time spent in hospital depends on how much they need to scrape away. In a lot of cases it is done in day surgery. If you go down late in the day, it will probably be an overnight stay. I would prepare for an overnight, just in case. So slippers, a dressing gown and some toiletries. You will wake up with a catheter, but this is usually removed before going home. Once your pee runs clear and you can wee on your own, they let you go. Again, this depends on what they find. For a few days afterwards, it will sting a bit when peeing, but it gets better. They will take a biopsy at the time and it takes a couple of weeks for the results. The biopsy will confirm if it is cancer and will determine further treatment. Please ask any questions you like, there is a lot of experience here. Best wishes.
