My dad has just completely a year of 3 month check up for bladder cancer and we have been advised that there is a small mass in the groin area which is hard to get at so they are going to perform laser knife surgery, i am under the impression it is serious when cancer is in the lymph nodes or is that just a myth?
Easier said than done, but try not to second guess results. Have they done CT scan or other tests? Have they indicated what they think the mass is, or might be?
IF it is cancer in the lymph nodes then yes, it is more serious as it means the cancer has gone outside the bladder & has potential to spread elsewhere. But it does not mean untreatable. I'm afraid it's another waiting game for biopsy, results & recommendations from MDT.
Best wishes.
He had a ct scan 6 months ago and there was a small mass then he had a ct scan last week and it had doubled so have been told it’s cancer of the lymph node in his groin but where it is in such a difficult area they cannot take a biopsy so are going to laser knife it so we won’t even know if it’s a fast or slow growing cancer as no biopsy can be done.
Hi . Pet scans can give far more detailed information than normal CT or MRI scans, and give the medics a better idea of what they are dealing with. As well as being able to detect cancer cells, they can show how well various organs are working. Best wishes.
My cancer spread from the bladder to the lymph nodes, liver and lungs. It is incurable but treatment can keep it at bay. After chemotherapy all my tumours have shrunk, which was good news. Been on a trial drug for three months. The aim is to prevent regrowth. Will get the results of a CT scan next Monday.
Spread to lymph nodes is thought to be serious because cancer can spread from there to other organs. However, it is not deadly. It can be treated as I have found. We can have a good quality of life.
Thank you very much for replying to me, my dad is on a trial too and that is how they found the growth, he had a ct scan and a small mass showed 6 months ago (about 0.6mm) then he had another scan and in 6 months it had doubled...but if he hadn’t been on the trial and had the scans we never would have known, so it is a blessing in a strange way....so far there are no more growths but he has a pet scan in 3 weeks so should find out more....they did say it was treatable but not sure which treatable they mean...got luck with the ct scan results next Monday and please let me know how you get on x
