Mr W went for his pre op usual height weight BP Ecg etc. He had af but is asymptomatic and takes apixiban
Then he went to another nurse for the questions Usually they ask if anything had changed as he has had quite a few pre ops kidney stones preceded bc
No every question was asked and had to be answered it took 45 minutes When asked if he knew if he had dementia he said would he know which led to a lecture on how he might or might not
We think she was either new or has been hauled over the coals for being sloppy in the past
She even wants an echocardiogram which seems over the top and falls outside the nice recommendations
Our lovely Macmillan nurse said he would only be in 8 hours in total this one says no overnight She gave him 6 leaflets on various topics to be studied before his procedure 3 sheets of instructions and a bright green plastic bag for his belongings when he is admitted
What a morning had to go for lunch and a bottle of red

Hi Wilbert. The pre op may have seemed to go over the top slightly, but I would take it as a positive in that they are really looking after him. Enjoy your lunch. Off to the Windy Isle again, and away from this damp weather, wonderful. It will do the both of you good. Best wishes.
I just want to tell them to read their notes sometimes Wilbert. But as rily says at least this way they don't overlook anything. I'm sure my last pre-op was just the usual same old form to fill in, & the check for MRSA, no bloods, no urine sample, nothing.
Enjoy Lanzarote xxx
Thanks I wonder if they ever read the notes
Mr W was a bit cross he is in the gym 3days a week and has done just over 300miles on his bike this year Not to mention 3 mile walk each day to the marina and back for a glass of wine Don't think he would manage that with heart problems
Seems pre OP are feast or famine
Have a good Christmas and a happy healthy new year

How amazing is Mr W's exercise routine? I walk dogs daily, do one yoga class, one pilates class per week and I thought I was energetic! Wishing you a marvellous holiday Wilberts, and many well deserved glasses of wine. xxx
I get a bit fed up with the same questions each time - even the basic ones like 'how long have you lived in the UK'. When my mother in law was admitted after a fall, she was asked so many times for her name etc she thought they doubted who she was and her sanity.
Last visit I was asked if I'd ever been in the Armed Forces - that's a new one!
Once again I went for a blood test at my local medical centre here in Wiltshire, after a two week wait for an appointment. While there, the nurse asked when I last had a PSA test and I replied it was 5 years ago.
She said she'd get the duty doctor to check my prostate. While she was out of the room I put my coat on. She came back with the doctor who asked why I wasn't trousers down on the bench ready for my prostate check. I replied that I was ready, that my prostate is in the path lab with my bladder in Reading 80 miles away and they ought to read my bl**dy notes!
CB
Sorry that made me laugh CB.
I had a scan once time & the radio asked if I'd had my gall bladder out, I have. She'd been looking for it for over 10 mins & was quite worried when she couldn't find it.
I've got it on record that I've had a mastectomy, I haven't, but people will argue with me that I have as it's in the notes. They think I'm in denial, I swear I'll whip my top up one day. Onco said he'd told them not to allow student to write up our notes
His cycling is voluntary walking requires a glass of wine on route and gym requires me to give him a push I go 6 days and I love yoga and pilates and body pump and step We have an amazing 85 year old in our yoga class she calls me going at 72
Have a wonderful Christmas and happy healthy new year to all
love Wilbert xx
