Today I had third of 3 BCG infusions. Currently knocking back requisite two litres of water. But give me 48 hours and I'll be having my first glass of wine for three weeks. Nice feeling to have a couple of months off treatment before next flexi.
Just wondered if anyone knows how long I need to leave it before I can have my flu jab? I have read somewhere that there can be problems between the two viruses, but unsure of implications. Also thought it worth mentioning for others info, that my dental hygienist advised I leave a few weeks gap between BCG doses and having teeth cleaned because of bacteria and supressed immune system.
Best wishes lovely group. x
Hi H. If I remember rightly, you cannot have the flu jab within 6 weeks of BCG, but not certain. It may be a good question to post in the Ask a Nurse section for an expert opinion and future reference to others. A funny old world of ours when we have to think twice about things that others consider normal. Enjoy your wine (I think I'll join you) Best wishes.
I have posted the question in ASK a Nurse section Rily, thanks for suggestion. Will feedback their reply. x
You'll become an expert at glugging down water Inanna. I've got an A level in hydration since my diagnosis! xx
Mr W told 8 week gap before flu jab He hasn't had a flu jab for the past 3 years and touch wood no flu We use Boots duel defence a spray up each nostril before we go out from mid October to end of January Also lots of hand sanitizer when we are out and about and tissue on door handles and escalators Seems abit extreme but its kept us both flu free .
Our dentist agrees with your hygienist
best wishes
Wilbert
Thanks Wilbert that fits with other stuff I've read. My GP said ask my consultant. The Macmillan "ask a nurse" service said probably more dodgy not to have it thus risking flu, but check with consultant. As I live in an isolated place and can avoid people (much loved germy grand daughter 200 miles away in London) I'm hoping to get a jab just before Christmas. I'll ask CNS (aka wonder-woman) first. x
I am making myself drink a litre a day, I do love water
