Low grade

I had grade 2 bladder cancer last year and a large tumour removed. This was followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment. Given the all clear and three months later following flexible cystoscopy clear again. Unfortunately next flexible cystoscopy four months later a small superficial  tumour was discovered at the opening of my bladder. I had the tumour removed with TURBT three weeks ago.I was in and out of hospital the same day. Met the Consultant yesterday who said I had a low grade cancer and said he was arranging another TURBT to have a look round the bladder in eight weeks time. He was quite laid back and nonchalant but I feel a tad uneasy. Anyone had similar experience or comments?

  • Hi Garviv my experience was similar except I had BCG after initial removal of Grade 2  tumour, no chemo or radiotherapy as mine was not muscle invasive. A year later flexi showed up 2or 3 small tumors. Also removed and turned out to be lower grade than the first which my team thought showed that BCG was working. My understanding of low grade bladder cancer is that it frequently reoccurs and I am about to have another patch removed about 10 months later. I was sent for another CT scan after this second reoccurrence to check for spread. So far I am clear except in bladder. Fingers crossed for you. Make sure you get your 3 monthly checks, they are crucial. xx
