Hi,

my dad had his turbt procedure yesterday the surgeon has told him that they couldn’t remove all of the tumour because it is deep rooted so he will have to have further treatment after they have his results from biopsy anyways ... he was fine yesterday but is ill today vomiting in pain etc I’m just  wondering if anyone else had similar experiences how long this will last etc.

Many thanks Chelsea

  • Hi . Good to know your dad has had his TURBT. It is not unusual for them not getting it all. Sometimes, a follow up TURBT is needed, but it all depends on the biopsy results. He has an internal open wound, and as the anaesthetic wears off there will be some pain which should subside over the days. The sickness can be caused by the anaesthetic, but if it does not get better, it may be wise for him to call the hospital for advice. There should be a contact number on his discharge notes. In the meantime, make sure he drinks lots of water at regular intervals to keep him hydrated. The water also keeps things flushes out and helps prevent infection. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

    Hi rily,

thank you for your reply, I should have said he is still in hospital I’ve just got home from visiting him, they ran another blood test as they thought he shouldn’t be in this much pain! And said that something is up with his kidneys so they sent him for a scan the surgeon seems to think that they may have damaged the 1 of the kidney tubes during surgery so he’s currently on morphine and had the catheter put back in until his scan comes back.

It was awful seeing him like this in so much pain and crying I think it’s finally hit home!

  • Good to know he is in the right place and being looked after. I hope they can relieve his pain and sort him out. I know how distressful it is when someone you love is suffering in this way. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
