Hi all. Its Iwo years since I was first diagnosed with bladder cancer. Ive just had my third turbt prodedure to be told i am now grade 2 and more aggressive than previous.

On the 24th I will be starting another 6 weeks of mitomycin although this did not work before ?

Does anyone have experience of the second course. Does it cause more irritation and discomfort compared to the first and more to the point will it work.

2 years in and feel im back to square one.

Thanks

  • Hi Steve-Tap. Sorry you find yourself back here after the MMC did not work. I have seen on here before where a second treatment work. I have only had MMC in single treatments, so can't comment on the build up effects. I do know people have different reactions to it. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • If irritation causes the bladder to eject the MMC before due time, worth checking if it suits for you to try Solafenicin anti-spasm tablets. Your pharmacist will be able to advise you if they are OK with anything else you have to take. GP can prescribe on the advice of the hospital so you do not necessarily have to mess about trekking to hospital pharmacy and waiting around there. 5mg per day did not have much effect on my husband but he did get temporary benefit from 10mg. I am not sure but get the impression that it may take a few days for these to reach full effectiveness so bear that in mind if you need them.

Best wishes with the second course.

    1. Thanks for your reply  No Ive alwa managed to keep the mitomycin in for the hour after treatment during rotations. Its just that on the lfirst course I had uncontrollable itching for three to four days after each session. Very  embarrassin and uncomfortable. Felt like a bad nettle rash that you cant get too.
