Chemo after RC

Hi . Good to know your recovery is going ok. I did not have RC, so not the best to answer, but I believe the chemo is to help clear up any rogue cells, if any, floating around. I am sure someone with better experience will be along to help. Best wishes.

It's not unusual to be offered chemo after surgery though mostly it's done before the RC as I had. As rily notes, the chemo is designed to kill off any rogues cells that may have escaped into your bloodstream and might be lurking in other organ tissue.

Statistically, have chemo improves survival by about 5% so I decided to go for it which brought my survival chances up to 85%. When I checked the survival rates of healthy 62 year old men, I found that it was also 85% meaning I'm back where I was pre cancer diagnosis.

Chemo can be a breeze and can also be vile and you can't predict how it will affect you. I recall that Rily was fatigued and otherwise ok ish and it pole-axed me for 3 months. It's going to be your choice. If you go for it, I'll give you detail of my experience and what I learned.

Thank you Both i really don't know what to do i understand its got to be my choice but it would be  good to have guidance from the oncologist which wasn't the case

Hi Super Girl , glad to hear you are doing well and the RC has made a massive positive difference. 

Not an easy decision and can understand confused. Sorry can't offer advice for that but wish you well going forward.
