I wrote earlier about a friend who was diagnosed with aggressive invasive G3 T2 BC in 2017 and offered adj chemo then RC. Her pre op CT scan indicated that it had spread to her liver, lungs and spine and she was given 2 years to live, the op was cancelled and she was offered just palliative care.
In the spring of 2018 she applied to go on the Ateziomizulab trial as she had nothing to lose. Obviously she had the actual immunotherapy rather than the placebo and has just had her second scan. The cancer is gone completely from her bladder, liver and lungs with only a residue in her bones. She is continuing with the weekly infusions.
I report this only so that those who are new to the forum can see that there is hope with new treatments coming on the horizon.

Hi CB. Thanks for sharing this. Really good news for your friend. It sounds very promising for future treatments. Best wishes.
Marvellous news for your friend and hope for the rest of us. Thanks for sharing this CB. x
Sounds really positive and great to see new treatments having an effect.
An update: I learned today that her oncologist is of the opinion that there is no detectable cancer left in her bones. This will be confirmed subject to a PET scan.
An exciting treatment development that bodes well for future patients. I'll let you know the outcome.

That’s absolutely great news CB, some hope out there x
Fantastic news for your friend and so encouraging to hear of more treatments being developed. x
So not only have they saved her life, they have saved her bladder too. Fantastic news...Next question will be when this becomes available for everyone threatened with RC that would prefer not to have RC. Has the lady suffered any particularly nasty side effects by the way, I know nothing about this drug?
I also noted just one post recently that mentioned the use of lasers presumably in effectively cauterizing cancer cells, which I had not even heard of prior to that.
Thanks CB for the news, our good wishes to your friend I'm sure all agree,

She's had the infusions at home and no side effects other than a bit of fatigue. If I understand it correctly, Atezolizumab is one of the newer drugs that stops the cancer cells' cloaking ability so it becomes exposed to the body's immune system and kills them off.
It has to be the future for all cancer treatments and hopefully will prevent future patients from having the treatment I did.
