Help with my head!

Oh goodness I know what you mean. It’s a hideous place to find your head in the middle of the night - and you are the only one who can help yourself. 

The thing that helped me most was meditation. I use the headspace app. It’s not a magic wand and it takes time and discipline. But the pay back for spending 10 to 15 minutes a day sitting quietly can be huge. 

As for books, I can recommend a couple that I’ve found useful and comforting. The first is The Book of Joy. It’s not very well written (I don’t think) but it helped me.

The second is With the End in Mind by Dr Kathryn Mannix. Not an easy read but beautifully written and a source of comfort for me.

Thank you so much, I'll take a look at those book. I'm not a great one for meditation as when I quite  my mind all the demons creep in.

My pleasure, . I know what you mean about the demons creeping in. I find it helps to dress them in ridiculous clothes and laugh at them. They can’t hurt you if you remind yourself that they are just thoughts.
