Hi everyone

My partner has grade 4 brain tumour gbm. His seizures are never the same. I am having a hard time knowing what to do when they happen as they are do varied.

Blank stares, auditory hallucinations. Hallucinations. Change in emotion and sobbing. Latest was two night back when I had to call 999 as they went on for hours. He was not on any medication. Just stating Keppra

I am not sure what to do when these happen, other then stay close and reassure him. Last one left his right arm with loss of movement for hours.
so advice please, very scared when they happen. I freaked out and paramedics had to deal with me!

  • Hi , Oh my heart goes out to you, it must have been terrifying. I can so easily understand your reaction. What works for me is preparation, training myself to slow down. I like diaphragmatic breathing as it helps to slow everything down and, once you have practised, it's more likely to come naturally when you need it. It gives you the time to get your panic and fight or flight reaction under control. You could also call the helpline 0808 808 0000 while waiting for the ambulance and they will help you remain calm. Another thing I have found useful is looking at a few things and naming them; lampshade, white, clock, blue; it sounds daft but really helps to stay grounded so you can concentrate on the task in hand.

    Love and hugs,

If you find dust in my house, write your name in it. When the signatures overlap I'll get the polish.

Today went round to his brothers house to see him. He did not know me. Aggressive. Sobbing. Had to leave as I was making it worse
