Expat with cancer pre brexit

Welcome to the online community I'm pleased to hear that your husband received excellent medical attention in Spain and he is coming through the other side with a positive outlook.

The question of expats to receiving continued medical attention as was available pre Brexit is still up in the air as in theory we are still part of the European Union. From what I can understand an agreement is in force guaranteeing that the existing arrangements will remain in force for at least 1 year after Brexit takes effect but it is likely to change after that.

I afraid I don't know the answer and unfortunately our support team can't advise on Medical treatment outside the UK due to variations between healthcare in different countries.

You may also get answers from the FCO department in London but I assume that until there is an actual leaving date no one will know what both governments will agree for the future until then.

I not too sure what expats have to do to become part of the Spanish Healthcare system but I take it you have made contact with your husbands hospital and the local health centre regarding this.

I hope that you find a suitable solution to this problem before the leaving date is announced..
