Hello,we are all going through a tough time, but we must all try & relax when we can.I am near Guildford, so if anyone wants to contact me this would be great.Thank you regards Amanda

  • Hi Amanda, I hear you!

It's becoming clear to me how important it is to look after myself as carer. If I'm not rested, fed, listened to etc, it makes everything else that much harder. The other day I sent out texts to my friends asking for things like a cooked meal, some shopping, a cake. Lots of people have asked "let me know if you need anything"... So I did!

My hubby has been through chemo, radio and surgery all in the space of 6 months.. and that means I have too! As bystander, as advocate, as moral/emotional/physical support, as secretary/nurse/chauffeur. This is a long, tiring road.

And it's a tiring time of year even when well! So much hustle and bustle. This Christmas I gave myself permission not to send out any cards and way lowered my expectations. This year I'd rather take a nap than cook a roast.

Anyway just wanted to say you're not alone! Sending lots of love and peace and a big hug from Cheshire xx

  • Hi Thanks for your reply.Well done you!! I will have to follow your advise next year.As I an nursing a nasty chest infection. And yes thankfully we are alone over Christmas, but carers will be popping into sort my Hubby out.We had a party last weekend,& I had to prepare a Fish pie & chilli e con carne for 8 of us!! But felt ill with thevstsrt of this virus.Hubby is deaf & severely sighted in both eyes as well as his cancer. But we try & keep busy each day and as positive as possible & laugh as much as we can.Anyway what's your weather like ? We have had rain & many local flood alerts.Well,I wish you a Happy Christmas & happy New year, Best wishes,Amanda
