Holiday dilemma

Hi all

Wondering if anyone has any advice/recommendations for a situation I have. Myself and other half booked a long haul holiday in November. We didn’t sort insurance at the time and  very shortly afterwards, my mum was diagnosed terminal endometrial cancer (not able to have any treatment or surgery). We we told that 12 months would be too long. Obviously in the middle of all this the holiday/insurance was the last thing on my mind between caring for mum and going back to work full time.

the holiday is planned for end Sept and is partly a cruise. I am very undecided about whether to cancel or leave it but 99% of me knows that if mum is still here around the time we fly, I won’t be able to go for fear of something happening whilst we’re away.

I am pretty sure we’re stuffed insurance wise as we didn’t obtain insurance before mum’s diagnosis but wondered if anyone knew of any specialist insurance companies I could talk this situation through with?

Thanks in advance

    Hi

Welcome to the online community and I am sorry to see you here speaking about your mum's terminal diagonis and your proposed holiday, it is a pity that you weren't able to arrange insurance at the time of booking as you would have had cover from day 1 and now if you can get insurance you might have to pay an arm and a leg.

We have a Travel insurance forum for cancer patients group where the members have been putting together the names of insurance providers who they've received a good deal. If you click on the green text above this will take you to the groups home page where you will be able to scroll through previous posts and see the comments made by the members unfortunately Macmillans are unable to give you a list of providers and the only details available is the information the members have assembled between themselves. Once you join the group my friend will be on hand to signpost you to the correct section of the group to look for information.

We also have another group that might be of interest to you Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum where you meet with others similar to yourself.

    Hope this of some help

    Ian
