Hello all,
I haven't been here for a very long time but needed to spill somewhere!
My partner was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2024. They performed a resection and tild her she was in remission. After only a few weeks, however, she was toldit wasal also in her lungs. After 8 cycles of capox and a liver ablation, she was told, again, she was in remission. That lasted one month. At the follow up scan in January we found out it had spread to the lungs and that there were too many lesions operate. So she's since been on FOLFIRI and Bevacisumab, short chemo break, and another 5 cycles of capox and bevacisumab. It's currently controlled and her oncologist would like her to move to maintenance for 6 months.
In some respects, I feel lucky for the time we didn't think we'd have. Sometimes, though, I can't help breaking the remaining time into cycles. Maybe 6 months on maintenance, rechallenge with capox and folfiri, lonsurf, clinical trials.
I try to live "in the moment" but as many of you will know, that's much easier said than done. How do others manage when the clock is ticking but there's potentially quite a lot of living to do in the meantime? I appreciate every single day and know many people do not have this time.
