  • Paul's fight
    Goodbye my love
Well, here I, less than 8 weeks after diagnosis, grieving for the poor beautiful man I gave my life to. Paul passed away peacefully last night at approx 11.55pm. The time wasn't right, we had so much longer together. My only saving grace is that he was in no pain. He simply had a small seizure, took a few short breaths and then he was gone. I am utterly flattened, deflated, I love him so much. People keep saying he was... He did,,, we loved.... I say he is.... He does..... I love...... I can't imagine...

  • Sublingual Salivary Gland Cancer- my journey
    Radiotherapy- 5 days to go.

I've not been blogging as much this week because there hasn't really been much to add. Things have stayed pretty much the same. The saliva has become thicker, but not really thick and I've found swills with the salt water and then later the carhopsol seems to give some relief from it.

Denplan have paid out on the private prescription I had for that so that's fab.

I'm still doing 5ml of oramorph about every 4 hours which seems to do the trick. Because I've been into work 3 days this...

Help and advise. I'm really struggling to hold my self together
Hey see my picture. Well that's me Sam with my daddy taken at my step brothers wedding 2010. My dad awesome but a pain in the arse! Today Friday 19th September 2014 we found out that my dad has lung cancer that is now in the liver, lymph and bones. The doctors have told us that no surgery or radiation is an option. All they keep saying is the cancer is extensive and seems aggressive, they will be doing biopsy this Wednesday to see how the cancer is metabolising and what kind of cancer. All the...

    It's been 6 months
I'm sorry if this is really long but I've never really spoke about my mums Cancer but I feel it may be easier to tell you.... A complete stranger. I hope you don't mind. I can Remember when my mum told me she had found a lump at the bottom of her stomach top of her leg area. That's the way she said it. She'd found it in November 2011 but didn't got to the doctors till feb 2012. She went and had tests. The day she was getting the results I was at work but I told her to ring me soon as she got...

    Today

Another bittersweet day... Today I collected my gorgeous man from the hospital.  They have sent him home to die... How is it even possible that 8 weeks ago we were planning our future, our house is Malta, our careers, etc..... and now we are talking funerals and after-life plans..

The Macmillan nurse I met today was lovely, helpful and kind.  Don't get me wrong, the other one I met probably is too, but she is the one that has been giving me the BAD news all the time... I know, unfair but I can't help...

Watch and wait in non hodgkins lymphoma

I have enjoyed 4 years of good health and wonderful times with family and friends but the dreaded lymphoma is back. I always knew this was on the cards but I'm sure all of us in this position always hopes we will be the one to beat it.

I was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma grade1-2 stage 4 with 40% bone marrow involvement in July 2009. I was given R Chop chemo within the week as my scan showed bulky disease pressing on vital blood vessels and organs. I had a good response to treatment with...

    Radiotherapy - day 22.5

  • Sublingual Salivary Gland Cancer- my journey
    Radiotherapy day 22

Things are definately hurting more today. Sore patch on my throat that makes swallowing tricky. Warm water seems to be less irritating than cold water.

My tongue is feeling quite sore again. I have been upping the oramorph ( as I was told) and am now in 4.5ml every 4 hours. Still doesn't seem to send me woozy so that's good.

Having real problems getting the mouth/ tongue guard in for radiotherapy but everyone is very patient and waits for me to wiggle it in.

    Another 3 bags of prescriptions...
