Day 1: Sunday, 17 May 2015
2.45pm: Arrive at Ward 10, a men-only ward at the Cancer Centre, accompanied by my wife and 2 sons – definitely feeling a tad nervous. Shown by a rather formal male nurse ‘A’ to my allotted bed, next to a window overlooking greenery – very soothing. Another, more chatty, male nurse ‘T’ arrives first to take pulse, blood pressure and temperature, then an ECG check for my heart, and finally hands me a swab for my nose and groin required for MRSA testing – so glad that...

I don't really know where to start my dads lost about 5 stone over the past 2 years and his doctor put it down to his pain medication for his back!! He said that's what was causing the bad stomach and diarrhoea, we went to his back specialist has he is in a lot of pain with his back and he told me he couldn't do a urine sample as it was like diarrhoea coming from his front!! Thursday went with my brother and oldest son to Windsor Horse show. Despite it being extremely wet and cold. We had a great time just sharing the moment together.
Recently I received a text message from him which really moved me.

Thursday 10th April: Start of treatment.
Felt OK during and after. Went to town for some food and two pints of beer. Slept OK
Friday 11th April: DAY 1
Felt fine. Went for my normal 5 mile walk. Went for a meal with friends early evening and had one bottle of beer. Began to feel very fatigued during the meal. Went straight to sleep once home.
Saturday 12th April: DAY 2
Felt very tired all day. Hardly moved from horizontal until late afternoon. Picked up around 18.00

My father is having his first chemo today for spine cancer. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer two years ago, but it has now advance to his spine. He is 79 years old, not particularly frail but he is very scared.
I live miles away from him - him in Norfolk and me in Surrey. There is no one to care for him except me. I have talked to him about having his treatment and staying with me, but he is concerned that this won't be possible. I am quite desperate to find a solution for his care....

just been through 8 months of treatment for second boob. Boob one got all this 20 years ago and I guess I am lucky to still have two boobs. Recently I've found myself in a difficult place- 'Difficult' in the looses sense of the word.
The ' unaffected by cancer difficult'.
I'm job searching and I have a few money worries, like not paying my phone bill on time and having to ask my mum for money. Having the odd arargument with my boyfriend about who's doing the food shopping!
This 'difficult', however, always has an edge.
