After being diagnosed in April 2017 with stage 4 bowel cancer and completing my first surgery 3 weeks ago I decided today was the day I was going to attend the dreaded support group!! Hello everyone,
I had my first chemo on 30th May and apart from a little bit of trouble getting the cannula in, it went okay on the day. The final of the 6 syringes of 'stuff' did start to make my vein ache a little bit as it went in, but it was bearable.
Since then, I have had some side effects - a dizzy day, a bruised-like pain day, a completely wiped out day - couldn't stop eating for the first ten days after, but that has now been replaced with nausea so I'm back taking the anti-sickness...

Hi Everyone , I first posted a blog back in December 2016 thought I would update you if that's ok . Well I've now finished 6 months of FEC and 3 weeks of radiotherapy I count myself lucky in a way because I only had a what I feel is a short course of treatment I had a couple of hospital stays 1 was in February with a chest infection and the other was in March when I had what I can only describe as an odd experience !! tired today after day at work - ditto for yesterday. Interesting to see how Sunday works being first day with no steroids. Bowels working ok with movicol - still a slight strain - but at least things are moving
Finding it challenging to swallow down 95mg of steroids in form of 7 tablets plus iron tab plus the stomach protector plus the lysin thing to ensure waste flushed through kidneys

I am starting radiotherapy tomorrow & have read conflicting views on using creams. Some say use nothing unless problems start, others say use cream before & during radiotherapy. If I use creams hat do I use? Really difficult to know what to do.
