    Axillary web syndrome- cording??

It has been several weeks since I have updated this blog. I have managed to go on holiday and get back in one piece. A couple of nights I did feel nauseous but I had all my meds with me. My hair was still falling out in small clumps and this was even more evident on a light tiled floor. The cleaners must have wondered what was wrong even though I tried to pick up as much as I could. Shame they don't do travel size dust busters! I still have hair but it's very thin on top and my parting is very wide...

My first chemo session - 26th August 2016

    Well I didn't expect this!

I had a raised CA125 reading last year accompanied by some pelvic discomfort. After a CT scan and assorted pelvic investigations, I was sent away with a diagnosis of - yes, you've guessed it, IBS. Now I was happy with  that as it is manageable, but I was not certain it was entirely accurate. This year I found a lump under my ribs on the left which has finally been diagnosed (after speculation that it might be of Colorectal origin) as Primary Peritoneal Cancer of...

The Loss Of A Loved One

i myself have never had cancer, as of yet, but i along with thousands.millions of others, have known someone, lost someone from this disease. This cripling, draining, altering disease.

Most recently i lost my grandfather, whom 6 years ago lost his wife to the same disease, albeit a different part of their bodies being affected.

    her heart, his lungs.

Sadly, it has taken me this long to decide to try and help, even if in my own small way. i, after conversing with a few close friends, have decided i...

    Creating a blog

A milestone for me today, created this blog. Maybe it will give my mind something else to think about - other than pain, depression, fear, anxiety, helplessness, loss, desolation and any other of the many negatives.

    Cliffhanger

Next episode playing in 13, 12, 11, 10, 9..... I’ve already watched three episodes and I could certainly be using my time more constructively but I need to know what happened next.

You’re just as likely to find Millennials bingeing on Netflix boxsets these days as you are to find them downing alcopops in town.  As our generation grows up we’ve found the recovery time from a glass of Pinot is considerably more substantial than it used to be for those university treble vodkas and sambuca...

    Hot Sweats

My partner (aged 78) has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He has undergone 6 weeks of radiotherapy and is now suffering very badly from night sweats and hot flushes. These are so severe that he has been prescribed hormone therarpy normally aimed at women!

He is very self-conscious about this, and feels abnormal. Is there anybody out there who could offer me advice on how to reassure him?

    Many thanks.

    Bone marrow biopsy

Well, today is my monthly hospital visit for appointment with consultant, usual tests and treatment hut in addition I have yet another bone marrow biopsy to be done. Of all the tests I've had this has to be the one I hate most. It's my fourth in 18 months but it has to be done. Hoping for good results but feeling anxious as I always do once a month. x
