  • My Melanoma Radiotherapy Diary
    Day 1 of Radiotherapy

So today it all started.  Radiotherapy on my tumour behind my breastbone.  I'm in so much pain now with it I can't wait to get on with it.

Got to the QE hospital in Birmigham early and changed into my breast gown that I will be wearing for my next 15 sessions.  Got called to a little room to go through the paperwork, make sure I wasn't pregnant, go through the side affects.  Told me I couldn't wear deodorant for the course of the treatment, and I couldn't shave my armpits!!!!!  What...

    2nd cycle AZD6244

My white blood cell counts were back up yesterday so I was able to sart my 2nd cycle. Feeling happier to be back on the capsules! There were a few more participants and the unit at Christies was busy yesterday. Having a 'chemo rest' week this week and hopefully back to work next week. Hope everyone else is having an OK week. • AML trial, RO5045337.....
    Any info Please...........

Hi all, I am hoping that someone with any experience of the AML trial, RO5045337, would share their experiences with us as my husband has been offered it as all other treatments have failed, and we are frightened and confused.  He was diagnosed in 2006 and had a transplant which kept him well for over 3 years but sadly the AML is back and has beaten another 3 courses of Chemo.  AAARRRGH!!!!!!

Thought whole point of Palliative Care was to make the patient comfy?
As you know, Peter was admitted to hospital on Sunday 14th Feb and it was found he had pneumonia with an underlying virus.  They kept him in an assessment ward for 2 days until transferring him to the Respiratory Ward in the same hospital.  He has struggled on with his breathing even with the oxygen and has not been able to eat, or even drink much at all.  He has terrible heartburn and was really feeling poorly.  Has been sat up 24 hours a day with very little sleep in between due to the comings and...

    Start the pills today

Well it is the day of reckoning  today and I take my first lenalidamide tablet tonight.  Dreading it but it has to be done. Sitting in my apartment looking out at the sea and wondering if I will still be here tomorrow - talk about dramatic, I know!  If this is what I am like about taking the tablets what will I be like when the real chemo starts?  Must get a grip and pretend it is an adventure!

Hopefully will post tomorrow and let you know that I survived the first 'killer pill'.

There's a Vibe ... and there is an international flavour

Strap yourselves in for a ‘big-dipper’ of an episode – The Post-Oxytocin Special.  Some surprising twists and turns are guaranteed
Keep the meds/finest malt close.  You also might need something to avert the ‘evil eye.’  I am afraid you will also need some time – a commodity which some of us are finding a little depleted.
Patience, my friends; a little re-cap is required first.
