    The fight continues
John is still in the hospice and receiving wonderful care. He has moments when he feels very down and this is what upsets me the most as he is normally very upbeat and positive - he now has a chest infection on top of everything else but he is determined to fight his way back to health. Trying desperately to hold myself together but feel worn down because John is suffering so much. Hope that he will be home soon so that we can get on with our lives. Liam and I miss him so much. Thank you to...

    go abroad for treatment
Desparate situations call for desparate measures. he husband has terminal lung cancer, (mesothelioma). He has had all palliative treatment, radio and chemo that is available in the UK. He has found details of a clinic in Germany where a new method is giving chemo had been developed. He is desparate to try anything that might help him, and has been told after exchange of several e-mails that he is a suitable patient. The treatment is expensive, but that is not an issue. has anyone out there...

    Missing my lovely mum
Morning all, Never "blogged" meself before but today I feel so low, I just wanted to get it all out, hope no-one minds. It is just that today is my gorgeous little boy's 10th birthday, and it feels like quite a momentous day, you know, "my baby" is the big one-oh! I am a crazy sort of mum and have lotts of fab things planned for him, which is pretty much taking over our whole weekend as a family (I have another gorgeous boy who is 5 too, and a lovely husband!). Problem is, my mum isn't here,...

    Good News!?
Good news? Bone scan and chest CT came back negative. No Matastisism. Still need the elusive referal to the City of Hope Cancer center. HMO dragging feet. Not looking forward to the "Whipple" procedure, but there is no other choice if I want to see my 65th birthday, maybe even Christmas and the new year.

    Hello its me!
I have never blogged before and am not very computer literate(hence no picture).Maybe the number 1 son will add one for me later...... I have checked out some other entries and everyone seems to have been through much more and be so much braver and more jolly than me.I am currently ok after breast cancer four and a half years ago.I suppose I just want to be in contact with people who understand the worry in the background that it will return and at the back of that is fear of death I suppose although...

What is so great about chemotherapy?
Yesterday I went with my Civil Partner so that she could talk with the Oncologist about possible ways forward. There was an underlying assumption that she would want chemotherapy and even that she would want to join a trial. She was very distressed by this rather aggressive attitude and finally decided to postpone a decision for another six weeks. She has been told that she has less than a year and six months of that could be spent in chemo. At the moment that looks like a really dud choice.....we...

    Pre Op Tests ARRGHHH
Today seemed endless ... Left the house at 9 am , met my mum at 9.30, got the bus to the hospital .. arrived and eventually found the ward we needed ... by 11. 42 .. Yay three minutes early LOL!! Took her blood pressure , and swabs for MRSA ( weird !!) , asked her everything like what she had for tea a week last thursday .. well it seemed that way ....!! Poor mums' veins are really thin so had to go to a special department to get blood samples .. then off to the ECG department for a heart trace...

    Pleasant distraction
I had my second chemo today (FEC) and still not sure how really how I feel. Lost my hair over the weekend which came as a suprise - more suprised at how quick it happened and how addictive it was to pull out!! Hair loss started on Thursday and by Monday morning I had to shave off the little that was left. Now worried about losing my eyebrows - but hey due to power of the internet I have ordered false eyebrows ! Who'd have thought it ! I feel quite positive about the whole thing so far apart from...
