luckypete has been so busy today that he (nearly) forgot all about us calls beavering away on his pluera. We cells got a little envious as Luckypete had some wonderful presents today, were doing all the work & he's getting the rewards. Two good fiends went on a 15mile charity walk last week and unbeknown to Luckypete he was thiere chosen charity, so shocked and quite emotional when told they raised £700. Also another 2 birthday present of a ferrari driving day & a couple nights
...So having been to work yesterday and decided, and agreed with my boss, i am now taking loads of time off to get the leg better. i need to address the problem with the lymphoedema or it aint gonna get any better. And yesterday at work the wound got more painful as the day went on. last night i went to the walk in centre and they gave me a course of antibiotics and an appointment to go back today to see the nurse for dressings change.
as soon as i got in the room she said it was a stinky wound. after...
Hi everyone and old friends on the site. I have not been posting for ages as I want to spend as much time as possible with Geoff while we still have this time together. For those who don`t know about me, my husband was diagnoised Oct. 2008 with a few months to a year prognoisis. Well whoever is watching over us (most likley the God I have always believed in) is doing a great job. Geoff although obviously very poorly this far down the line of meso is still on a good day (like today) is still able to...
A big thank you to Christine R & Sarsfield for their encouraging words. Yes i do feel a lot happier about the new treatment, the specialists have only my best interest at heart (sorry about the pun). I really can't wait for my chemo to start, after all, this is were the battle against the cancer(s) begins. Darter
We went to the hospital yesterday for a review of Sal's progress with the oncology team yesterday.
It all went pretty much as we expected. The last cycle they dropped the Adriamycin (doxorubicin) and they plan to continue the rest of the cycles with just TC (Taxotare and cyclophosphamide).
The surgery wound is finally showing signs of healing and the Hickman line is all OK.
Sal is to continue to take Metoclopramide when ever she feels nausea and they have dropped the need for her to take...
Hi Folks, Sorry to vent off but it would be interesting to get your points of view. My husband Keith has Stage 3 Lung Cancer which has spread to lymph nodes. At his first consultation he saw the Registrar. She asked Keith what he knew.(Previous to this appointment he was told by another consultant that a lobectomy was mentioned to him. When Keith mentioned the lobectomy the registrar just said "well that's not going to happen as it is inoperable". The chemo he will be receiving is just...
lost my dad just a day over two weeks ago. he was my world. we were so close. we worked together and when off from work we spent time together to.
from diagnosis to death was a month. yet he wasnt feeling right for over 4 months. for him not seeing a doctor after my nagging that upsets me.
he died of lung cancer. it felt that when he was diagnosed he stopped being my dad. he went in to a kind of not careing mode. thats what scared me most. we were so close that he couldnt see me like he did. he...
I am going for my first 6 month CT scan since the operation.
I am a bit worried about it but I have been keeping well so hopefully it will be clear.
I guess there will always be a lingering doubt but if there is any re-occurance it is better to know sooner.
Hopefully I won't have to wait too long for the results
arrived at the oncology centre this morning in good time for my 8-30 chemotherapy treatment start. only to be told because of my heart by-pass op a few years ago i would need an ECG, the result of which showed a different picture of my heart to what it was after the op. Consequently my onc decided that owing to this difference it was in my best interest not to go ahead with my chemo. One of the drugs i was going to be on was Cisplatin which, containing a good dosage of potassium was no good for my...
Hi My name is Ian. I was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma in 2005 and have had various treatments since. I am due to fly out to Turkey 2 weeks today for a much needed break with my wife and 2 children. The stumbling block was finding travel insurance at a realistic price.
I tried all the companies that were listed on the Macmillan website and they all seemed to be plucking figures out of the sky. The quotes I was receiving ranged from £224 to £560, unbelievable.
What a relief,the...
