Had the most recent appointment with the Oncologist out here in Doha. You know that feeling you get that someone really can't be bothered..? Yep, well he's that someone. I honestly think that he should have retired before he started working! He once again came out with the gem of ,"Ah yes, Mr John...you can get on and live your life."
Umm, yep...that's kinda what I am doing...but maybe now would be a good time to discuss how my symptoms are?
So, not receiving any obvious prompt...
I work in education for local government recently I had an occupational health meeting the doctor said I was fit for work and was to have the appropriate days off during my chemo treatment. I have worked for my employer for over 8 yrs . Now my cancer is stage 2 my manager has called me in several times to discuss my death in service and also whether I wanted the option of early retirement. The numbers that they offered me are very low and I can not afford to live off that . In fact the whole thing...
It is now three months since treatment finished. Today I have my first quarterly check with a CT scan, abdominal ultrasound and blood tests. I've been awake since 5.30am. Apprehensive, moi?
How do you decide what to do to feel an iota of your old self after losing your hair? I'm currently living in a beanie hat as I have a small amount of hair left at the front and back. Once this goes I do not know what to do... I've always had a lot of hair, kept it in a reasonable condition but taken it for granted. Do I try for a full on wig or look for a clip in piece if I keep the sides.
I certainly cannot rock the cool, bald chick look as I have the ugliest head in history. There must...
I’m not entirely sure of why I’m here everything I seem to do, every where I seem to look, it’s all in slow motion. My world has been ripped apart by this horrible word that I can’t even type. My thought and feelings are like when I was a child to which that all that was around is far too big, Bigger than me and I am a insignificant being that can’t climb out of a situation that is entirely out of my hands.
Im all very new to this blog stuff so forgive me if i ramble !
My journey began last November (2017) when i found a "tiny" lump in my right breast. It was getting near christmas, my new career was just getting started and i felt better than i had in years having been suddenly widowed a few years earlier. The GPs were always busy, you always end end getting something in their waiting rooms, don`t you? So I left it a few weeks to see if it would disappear. No it didnt, so off i went, aghh...
Hello
I'm new to this and have never used any site like this before. By chance just after Christmas I found a tiny lump on the back of my neck, my doctor said it was nothing to worry about but he'd send me for a scan anyway. Cut a long story short that lump was fine but they found lumps in my thyroid. 5 weeks ago I had my right side of my thyroid removed. I've now been diagnosed with pt3 follicular papillary thyroid carcinoma. It's all been so quick it's almost like a blur. In the space of...

Life is a beach, or so they say, and then you die.
Mine’s actually quite a nice beach, and I’m not dead yet, not by any stretch of the imagination; my beach admittedly has a bit of pollution, but that’s largely been my own fault and now I’m older I look after it better, try to keep it clean, and I’m sure its gradually improving.
But I do have one big problem with my beach. Well, it’s actually a problem in the water. There is something in it. A shadow. Not a terribly...
Hello - I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Renal Cancer last February. Initially, I was prescribed Sunitinib which I had to stop after one tablet due to a severe allergic reaction. I am now taking Fotivda/Tivozanib a TKI. First one will be later this evening. I would be really grateful to learn of other experiences and any do's and don'ts
Thanks
