Feeling so down today. After 11 glorious years in remission, I think its back.
Waiting for a CT Scan on Thursday 30th August...……….and hoping that I'm just being paranoid...…..
Been away from the site for a few weeks. Sorry!
I sort of got really bored of cancer, sick of talking about it sick of it being my life so I switched off as much cancer ' noise' as I could and powered on through the chemo for a bit.. Gosh there is a lot of ads on the TV lately for McMillan and Cancer Research. You never really notice until you are affected I guess. I have to turn off when I see ' Brave the Shave' sigh!
Anyway yesterday I started on cycle 3 of 12 on Folfox. Starting...
Monday 14 August 2017: Just after 10:00 am on Monday 14 August 2017, I was called through to see one of the surgical team who had been involved in my surgery the previous week. We had turned up about an hour early, having left plenty of time for teh cab to get us through the potentially busy Doha traffic. As it was the height of summer, there was not so much traffic on teh road (people do still try to get away for prolonged periods if they can to avoid the heat). The doctor was running late (just...
WHIPPLES PLUS THREE by John Hudson
I am pleased to be able to offer these reflections 3 years after having a Whipple’s operation, not least as a way of saying “thank you” to all involved via the NHS in my diagnosis, treatment (surgery x2 & chemo) and follow up (clinics & dietician) at University Hospitals of Leicester & locally our GP surgery. Equally I have been blessed with great support from family & friends without which the journey would have been much harder. I found leaflets produced by Macmillan...
Monday 7 August 2017 was the date when I had the "mass" removed from my neck. What a delightful term "mass" is...I remember being in recovery and seeing it in a specimen jar about to be sent of to the path lab. Lovely. I'll spare you the details though.
The following day, when I saw the surgeon, I asked him what he thought. "Lets be honest," I said, "It's not benign is it?" Good old rhetorical questions. He smiled and said, "I don't think so...but we'll know next week." It...
I arrived for my 3rd treatment feeling really positive but when my blood results came back my immunity levels were low (1.4 and shouldn't be lower that 1.5) this apparently is something that can happen. Again I was reassured , I had to avoid infection and wait another week and the levels would probably return to normal. Everything else was at the right level. My hair was starting to come out so I knew that something must be working. Also I had a slight rash on my arm which is another possible side...
I've decided to write a blog about my experience since discovering that I have breast cancer. I apologise for repeating myself but originally I was just going to put one post on the discussion forum. Since then problems have arisen so here goes!
i was diagnosed with secondary progressive MS almost 20 years ago. Since then despite restricted mobility my husband and I have continued to live a full and normal life with our family and friends. After a routine blood test in February I was diagnosed...
Apologies for not writing sooner but as you may be aware there have been issues with writing and accessing blogs. Hopefully this has now been corrected. This is what I wanted to write on July 12th.
I finally met the colorectal team.
They confirmed that I have 2 lesions on my liver. The proposed treatment will be 3 months chemotherapy and then rescan. I had a number of questions.
They didn...
Making decisions has never been one of my strong points...
Anybody who knows me, knows I’m the people pleaser. Every decision I have made for as long as I can remember has always been based around keeping as many people around me as happy as possible even if it meant squishing my own thoughts to the bottom of the pile where they tended to get lost or forgotten amongst the more louder verbal opinions of others.
‘It is true and I’m sure I’m not alone with this but when you are diagnosed with...
Is this the year of lasts......
There have been several poignant moments this year which have lead me to think it will be the last time that I will have that moment. It started actually before this year began and that was at Christmas. I usually find Christmas so difficult as I want everything to be perfect and make myself ill with worry, this time was different; we had an amazing Christmas but I wasn’t stressing and I felt really well. Between Christmas and New Year our friends came up and...
