    back online

Hi to everyone, I havent been able to get back online since the big change last year, so I lost heart a little.

To recap mum was diagnosed with  Lung cancer March 09, and has had Chemo. She has not deteriorated since which is good news and has no new symptoms, so I guess the treatment helped. she does get very tired though which is to be expected.

Any news from old friends would be appriciated. x

    treatment and emotions

    Hi Victoria

My husband has oesophagus cancer, he has just finished radiotherapy a month ago.  I have to blend all his food at the moment, and build up drinks and complain is helpful.  He goes through very different emotions, one day bad, one day good. I just try to be there and listen.  It is very hard to find out your parent has cancer,  you will also be confused and upset at what is happening to your mum, just be there for her and listen to her feelings.  Have you found out what treatment she is having...

Living for the miniscule chance the chemo will work!
    Welcome to my BLOG!

Dads chemo did not work to shrink the cancer (small cell lung cancer - non smoker!) so they are trying a new chemo but its "unlikely" to work.  You are told to be positive so I am hanging on along with Mum, Dad and my Big Sis to the miniscule chance that this chemo will shrink the tumour and they will be able to do radiotherapy!  Until they tell us otherwise I am holding on to that thought!

Go Superdad - Fight the Fight!!!

Whatever happens I am going to be there for...

ups and downs....where are our ups?????

Dad came out of hospital yesterday morning at 1.30am and was ok yesterday daytime. I went to visit this morning and mum was just of the phone to the unit again as dad was really poorly again today. I had the shock of my life when he came down the stairs- he was grey in colour and very thin and shaky he had no strength what so ever. He was told to go back up to the hospital and he has been there all day on a iv drip.

They are now giving him steroids and his anti sickness via the iv too. He is...

    27Th Jan 2010 Bertiebassett

Bert had quite a bad fall last night. He lost his balance abd fell into the bath and got himself wedged in. I had to get a neighbour in to help me get him out. Now he is scared to go into the toilet in case it happens again.

His mania has slowed down quite a bit so I am hoping he will return back to his usual self shortly. He is back to sleeping most of the day but I think we prefer that to the hyper way he was at the weekend.

The Leukaemia that they think is in his brain is making him so different...

    Maggie's Centre

Today I went to the Maggie's centre in Charring Cross Hospital. As a previous architect student I had been intrigued about the place since it won the stirling prize last year - strange to think I was there for this reason. It was a really beautiful space; flexible and open plan, full off adaptable spaces.

I went prepared with a geeky list of questions as i thought i might become tongue tied. This Lady called Bernie talked to me for a while and I have to admit I welled up a little bit at the...
