    Went to see doctor with chest pains, had xray and turned out I had a bit of fluid on lung, side effect from radio that should go on its own.  Once this was sorted felt better about going back to work so had meeting with my manager who referred me on to works occupational health.  They were really supportive and offered a phased return starting with 2 mornings a week and said they would support me to return to work once…

  • Ideas for grandma

    The complications during grandmas thoroscopy turned out to be a massive aortic anurism which stopped them from going any further, they did get 1 1/2 litres of fluid out of her though which has made her feet and ankles go back to normal.  Yesterday they put a stent in the vein that the tumor was pressing on to try and release fluid from her face and neck, going to see her today so hope it's done the trick.

  • Grandma in Hospital

    Been a bit of a roller coaster week for Grandma, after doctors meeting on Tuesday she was called in the next day and told that the biopsy from bronchoscopy was inconclusive, they say it is lung cancer but need to know what sort but it does seem to be confined to lung and consultant said she is confident they can treat her. They only took samples from tumor at top of her lung as couldn't get to the bit at the bottom so…

    Have been to see works occupational health nurse, said would support me to return to work on phased return once doctor signs me off as fit and manager agrees a start back date.  Not sure what I was expecting but we just talked and I felt like I was having to recall the past 12 months in 15 minutes, I talked and she took notes and will write a report for my manager from that.  Not long ago I was really keen to get back to…

    Just started to feel like I'm getting my life back together, much closer to the light at the end of the tunnel and family happy when fate decides to dump on us again.

    Grandma has been ill for a couple of months with breathing problems, was referred for ecg as nurse thought heart problems but all came back OK so given antibiotic for chest infection.  Then last week when things hadn't got any better same nurse agreed…
