Been a bit of a roller coaster week for Grandma, after doctors meeting on Tuesday she was called in the next day and told that the biopsy from bronchoscopy was inconclusive, they say it is lung cancer but need to know what sort but it does seem to be confined to lung and consultant said she is confident they can treat her. They only took samples from tumor at top of her lung as couldn't get to the bit at the bottom so asked her to ring on Thursday morning to see if there was a bed for her and they would do a thoroscopy (think that's what they called it) so that they could take a sample from the bottom. She has also been suffering fro swollen chest, face and neck over the past 4 days and they said they would also drain the fluid around her lung which should also ease the swelling and make her feel much better.
Luckily there was a bed for her and she went in at 3.30pm yesterday with the procedure scheduled for today. Went to visit yesterday evening and she seemed OK but anxious, hated leaving her cos doesn't seem that long ago that I was in that position and remember the feeling well.
Back to waiting again today, got a message from mum that they couldn't complete the procedure due to complications but no other information, have to wait for consultant to come round, can't even tell her when that will be, hope they don't take too long ...
