Am I ready ...

1 minute read time.

Have been to see works occupational health nurse, said would support me to return to work on phased return once doctor signs me off as fit and manager agrees a start back date.  Not sure what I was expecting but we just talked and I felt like I was having to recall the past 12 months in 15 minutes, I talked and she took notes and will write a report for my manager from that.  Not long ago I was really keen to get back to work, now its getting closer I'm not so sure I'm ready ... but have to take the plunge some time I suppose and the longer I leave it the harder it will get.

Am still dealing with some after effects of treatment, stiff joints especially knees and odd aches and pains, sometimes it's easy to accept these as par for the course, other times paranoia that the lymphoma has come back sets in.  Also hot flushes and no period even though finished chemo at the end of April, maybe they won't come back now, they said at start of treatment I could get menopause because of my age (41 now).  Not long until consultant appointment, 11th November when post radio scan should be arranged.

Grandma has had bronchoscopy and have just confirmed tumor in upper right lung, they couldn't reach the mass in lower right so couln't say what that was.  Her CT scan was brought forward because of a cancellation and there will be a meeting to discuss the result of both tests on Tuesday so hopefully she will get an appointment soon after with more information and treatment plan.

I worked for the NHS and had had 18months off sick after my husband passed. I went back on phased return and decided that I liked working part time so did so until I decided to retire early last year. Now I have my own battle to fight and I am so glad that I don't have work to worry about. I am sure that once you go back to work you will be glad of the normallity and should settle back into it comfortably. Good luck  and I hope your Gran gets the treatment to heal her lungs.
