Fed Up

1 minute read time.

Just started to feel like I'm getting my life back together, much closer to the light at the end of the tunnel and family happy when fate decides to dump on us again.

Grandma has been ill for a couple of months with breathing problems, was referred for ecg as nurse thought heart problems but all came back OK so given antibiotic for chest infection.  Then last week when things hadn't got any better same nurse agreed to sort chest x-ray, even had cheek to say that grandma hadn't mentioned breathing problems last time she was seen (mum had gone with her and she definately did), not really sure why they wouldn't put her in with the doctor but don't get me started on that one!

Anyway she was told that the x-ray showed a collapse of her upper right lung and a dark shadow and fluid in the pleural cavity which could be an infection or it could be cancer and that an urgent referral to hospital would be made.

Hospital appointment was today and they have done another x-ray which confirms collapse upper right lung but also shows dark shadow at the top and bottom of the lung.  Their x-ray shows a little fluid in the pleural cavity but not much but shows the shadows in the actual lung.  Doctor has organised a bronchoscopy for Tuesday and they will contact her for CT scan and then doc wants to see her again in 7 to 10 days.

Grandma not saying too much about how she feels but isn't sleeping and is struggling to get about due to shortness of breath, seems a bit deja vu to last October when I was in similar state to what she is now.  We have talked about breathlessness and how collapse lung feels but nothing more, don't think either of us want to go there until we know for definate what diagnosis is ... back to waiting ... and praying ...
