Got to visit dad yesterday after all....hooray!! The hospital was still not allowing visitors in, but we were able to meet him in the little garden outside his unit and then sit in the day room for a couple of hours. I think it really cheered him up to see the children - and they were pleased to see him. Amy was very interested in the lines in his chest & asked lots of questions about why he was there and would he…

Just heard from dad that the hospital has been closed to visitors from 4pm today due to a sickness bug!! That's sods law, as I was hoping to visit dad and take the children to see their grandad. He said he started to feel a little nauseous late afternoon & was given some anti-sickness drugs, so hopefully they'll work. I still think he's done so well to get this far before any ill-effects and only has a couple of days left to go. Told him to try and eat if he can & to make sure he drinks lots of water!! (Blimey...I…

Dad started his chemotherapy at 11 am today. After a chat with the doc he said he felt very calm about it. The first treatment has gone very well with dad feeling no ill effects from the 3 drugs he has been given today. The nurses said that's probably because he is so fit an healthy just now & that had he not got his diagnosis until symptoms were presenting themselves then he may not have been able to have this treatment…
