On the home stretch (for the first time...)

1 minute read time.
Dad's now just over half way through the first cycle of chemotherapy...and still doing well. He said he started to feel a little nauseous late afternoon & was given some anti-sickness drugs, so hopefully they'll work. I still think he's done so well to get this far before any ill-effects and only has a couple of days left to go. Told him to try and eat if he can & to make sure he drinks lots of water!! (Blimey...I sound like his mum!) The doctors are really pleased at how things are going, and hopefully when this cycle of treatment has finished and he's had some time being monitored he will be able to go home for a few days. He must be really frustrated at being stuck in the hospital as the last couple of days have been glorious spring sunshine and he would usually be pottering around in his garden - he loves his garden. I hope that he will be able to do a little gardening when he comes home..I think it would give him a real lift. Does anyone know if he will be ok to do that? Will be pleased to get to the end of Friday!

hey clarebear (im on the left in my pic by the way lol) I can relate to everything your saying. My dad has been battling his sickness and it does make the occasional appearence and he also has lost quite alot of his appetite. When he feels sick he normally takes off for a re-charge (sleeping lol) and then hes usually fine.He does need to be careful with infections and keep an eye on his temperature (38degrees).But saying that, since January when my dads treatment started he's only had one infection and he went to hospital had a caniluar in his arm and was fed antibiotics overnight then home and hes's carrying on his normal life, he still visits the pub occasionally though he can only manage about 6pints max now :) still works for the council etc.

    All the Best
