Hi everyone, I’m Annie, I live in south London. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in August and that was bad enough; I was all set for surgery in October. But the MRI showed spread to peritoneum so I start chemo tomorrow. I lost my partner to Covid in 2020 so despite wonderful friends, this feels like such a lonely and scary journey. I’d be happy to have Zoom calls or meet ups with other women who have similar experience. Also, any words of reassurance if you’re further ahead! I’m beginning to feel more uncomfortable in my lower abdomen.

  • my advice would be to get a second opinion and a PET scan. I was diagnosed in January with a squamous cell carcinoma, initially told just a primary, then that changed to spread to peritoneum and lymph nodes after PET scan. I started on chemo straight away.  I then sought a second opinion I’m June prior to the end of chemo and was told that the peritoneal mets may not be linked. This would change everything.
there have been so many errors along the way for me that I just like to know I’ve covered all bases.
Also I dreaded chemo but it wasn’t all that bad, the hair loss was the hardest part for me.
i know everyone is different though so just keep focused and keep strong x

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Online Community. Here you'll find a lovely group of supportive ladies who have all been exactly where you find yourself now. Any possibility of cancer diagnosis brings all sorts of stress and fears and if anyone can hold your hand and reassure you we will as you’re not alone in this. Between us we’ve accumulated lots of knowledge which we’re happy to share.

I'm so sorry to read what you've gone through, what with losing your partner and now this bombshell being dropped on you. You'll find plenty of support here in this group. The Website's rules preserve the privacy of the members so we unfortunately don't do zoom calls. Rarely do members meet up. Some have befriended other members where they can privately message each other. You could visit a local Maggies Centre where you can meet up with other members.

It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and how you came to find yourself here. Why not take a few moments to update your profile. It's always helpful for us to read if we want to ask you questions and you also won't end up repeating yourself. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) . You can amend or update it at any time. If you’re not sure what to write, just click on my username.

If you want to ask any of us any questions please come back and do so. There's always someone around and we can offer a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold or listen to a rant, we’re here for you.

It might also be a good idea to download this booklet Understanding Womb (Endometrial) Cancer. I found it really informative and helpful.

Click on the link I’ve created to find out more information covering diagnosis and treatments for Womb cancer.

You might also find this link to our Radiotherapy support thread inc brachytherapy where the ladies here have shared their experiences of radiotherapy treatments which may be helpful.

  • Oh wow, that all sounds dreadful! My diagnosis is high grade serous and I feel pretty confident that I’m in good hands with the Marsden. It’s all moved pretty quickly from initial tests and biopsy at Croydon to referral to Marsden to starting chemo today. I do hope you’re on the mend. Thank you for your reassurance about chemo.

    Warm wishes x
