I recently had recurring womb cancer had all my radiotherapy treatment, just waiting on my ct scan on 12th to see if its gone, I was just wondering if I'm to late to get support from macmillan, I had no support on my first round of cancer in 2016, I had no idea you can get any support, so I was wondering have I left it to late this time and what support can you get?

Thanks in advance

  • Hi Krazyginge Hope your scan goes well, I am quite new here so probably not much help but regarding support what kind exactly do you mean.... financial, emotional, or just someone to give advice  or to listen ?  I have been under the impression all these things are available to anyone with, or supporting someone with Cancer. when i  attended  my hospital appointments I was given a leaflet with phone numbers as a first point of contact. .As you are still undergoing treatment I would have thought it likely that you can get help.'' I know there is a grant available if you are having financial difficulties but I don't know the criteria to qualify. ... worth a phone call though. Dealing with cancer is traumatic enough without having to worry about other stuff.

I hope things go well take care.x

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community. Here you'll find a lovely group of supportive ladies who have all been exactly where you are now. Good to hear you've had your op and finished your radiotherapy treatments, just the last wait for the scan and results - it's all a waiting game.

Not sure what you mean by support, is it emotional support or continued support from your Gynae and Oncologist team. Normally Oncology do a post adjuvant check-up then they'll hand you back to Gynaecology to check you every three months for the first couple of years post op, then 6 monthly checks up to year 5. In the meantime, any worries contact your CNS.

If you mean any other type of support, have a look at the link below it might be helpful.

It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. You can amend or update it at any time. If you’re not sure what to write, just click on my username.

If you want to ask any of us any questions please come back and do so. There's always someone around and we can offer a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold or listen to a rant, we’re here for you.

It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear. It's free to call on 0808 808 00 00  8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Have a look to see what is available by Clicking here .

There is also an Ask an Expert section, but you should allow two working days for replies from our expert team.
