Sorry it should of said womb cancer

  • Hi @Annie321 and welcome to you. I’m sorry you find yourself here. It’s really hard when you first get a diagnosis - you don’t know what to think, who to tell (if anyone) and everything just seems to be a roller coaster of emotions. It’s natural for us Mums to want to protect our children. Telling my grown up daughters was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do but they were so supportive and caring. I’d just say that putting up a front is fine if it helps you to cope, but p,ease don’t be afraid to talk to your children or your partner, or even to us on here - sometimes it’s easier to chat with people you’re not so close to because you can say what’s really on your mind without worrying about what the reaction might be. Feel free to ask questions here and to vent if you need to. I’m sure some more ladies will pop in soon. If it helps, I was diagnosed with grade 3 serous endometrial adenocarcinoma 4 yrs ago, it’s a rarer and more aggressive type. I needed surgery, then some further treatment, but so far all my post treatment checks have been clear. I’ve been able to reassess what’s important and before COVID came along I was actively involved with voluntary work, learning ballroom dancing, crafting and spending more time with my family. I know you’ll be feeling a mixed bag of emotions right now and that’s normal, Once you get your treatment plan things are a bit easier and you feel like you have a team on your side. I know there are all the added worries with COVID just now, with lots of pressure on the NHS and support staff like specialist nurses, but we’re all here to help and support you if we can. Take care x

  • I was diagnosed with grade 3 womb cancer in November and after MRI and CT scans had my op on 22nd December. They removed the uterus, tubes, ovaries, cervix and pelvic lymph nodes. I'm still recovering from the op but on my third week after surgery feeling much better. I had my histology results yesterday. The cancer hadn't spread and was only in the womb lining so I just need a couple of brachytherapy sessions and the usual regular checks. Stay positive as much as you can but don't put a front on. You are the one who's ill. I learned that much. Have had to have lots of practical support from family regarding lifting, shopping etc etc and as a very independent woman that was hard. Fingers crossed for you and sending much love
