Hi everyone, just joined hoping to chat to others. I have been diagnosed, had MRI and ECG last week now expecting to be phoned within the next 10 days to go in for full hysterectomy.

I was just hoping for some chat, advice and community as am dealing with it fairly well but as I'm sure is normal I keep having worries and concerns and pains.

As much as I love my husband it's not always the easiest subject to chat with him about

  • Welcome to the group, and sorry to hear of your diagnosis.

this journey can be difficult at times, and sometimes it’s only people that have gone through the journey themselves that really understand, so please reach out here when you need to.

  • Thanks, good to be here.

Other than walking can anyone recommend anything to deal with the constant pain pre operation?

  • Hi Scareeves

    Welcome to the Womb group.

I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of endometrial cancer. I remember it being a worrying time and it is normal to have worries about the diagnosis and treatment.

Sometimes it can feel easier to talk to people who have experienced similar. I know for me it was sometimes harder to talk to those around me as they were still processing my diagnosis and I did not want to burden or upset them. Some people also find it hard to talk about it.

We do have the Support Line available everyday from 8am-8pm if it would help to talk things through. Your husband is also welcome to have support if he needs it.

My advice would be to take everything one step at a time. I know for me looking too far ahead could feel overwhelming.

From the biopsy and MRI they should be able to give you a provisional stage and grade of cancer and this is confirmed post op. It is these results that are used to decide whether any further treatment may be needed. For some ladies the surgery alone is enough. For others some follow up is needed.

Best plan now perhaps would be to have a think about the surgery and what you might want to take with you. Also practical things like how you will get to and from the hospital. I also did a big shop and gave the house a good clean- as after surgery you will need to avoid lifting etc for a while. For me sorting out the practical things meant I worried less about the diagnosis.

Do continue to post on here and feel free to ask any questions. There are many lovely ladies on here who will want to offer you support.

  • Welcome to the group and sorry to hear of your diagnosis.
I had diagnosis in December, CT and MRI scan in January and hysterectomy in January.
it’s completely normal to be worried, I suffered quite a bit from anxiety and used this forum and the McMillan helpline who helped me a huge amount.
it helped me to think about the highly skilled health team who undertake the scans, operation and treatment and how committed they are to caring for us. Take care

  • Hi,

I have constant pain, and that is my only symptom.

I have found that I am taking Oramorph during the night and codeine, paracetamol and i have increased my pregabalin during the day.

My new best friend is a hot water bottle.

So much so that my consultant even commented on the new tattoo I have gained on my abdomen in the shape of said hot water bottle lol. Behopes it fades once I stop using it all day every day Wink

Walking does not relieve my pain, standing up increases it and when my analgesia wears off I walk bent over lol.

Try and speak to your GP about your pain  relief whilst you are waiting.
